Mardale Ill Bell
Lake District National Park

Mardale Ill Bell

Lake District National Park

760

Mardale Ill Bell is a prominent fell in the Lake District National Park in England, one of many within the Kentmere Horseshoe walk. This walk is a popular circular route that includes several peaks, and it is well-loved by those who appreciate the rugged and unspoilt beauty of the Lake District. Located on the southeast ridge of High Street, which is the highest point in the Far Eastern Fells and one of the most famous hills in the Lake District, Mardale Ill Bell stands at a respectable height of 760 metres. The fell offers a steep, craggy face that drops down towards Blea Tarn on its northeastern side. A "tarn" is a mountain lake or pool, formed in a cirque excavated by a glacier. Blea Tarn, located below Mardale Ill Bell, is a serene and picturesque spot that enhances the natural beauty of this region. From the summit of Mardale Ill Bell, climbers are rewarded with fantastic panoramic views, including the surrounding fells and valleys. As is typical with Lake District walks, the route offers a variety of landscapes and terrain, making it a rewarding experience for keen walkers and hikers.

About us

We connect people to the outdoors

A few years ago, I started walking on a more regular basis, meeting up with my brother and then, later on, some friends - mainly just to get some time away (with no phone signal) and to bag some peaks in the fresh air!

I meet up with my brother a couple of times a year. In between, we’d often climb peaks closer to our homes (one of us lives in the North East, the other near the Brecon Beacons).

When catching up, we found we often lost track of which peaks we’d bagged and where we wanted to go next, so I thought it’d be cool to build an app that allowed us to bag peaks, set challenges for the two of us and our mates, and share pictures of our adventures.

Long story short, I took this idea to my colleagues - luckily enough, a bunch of developers and digital marketers - and we turned this idea into a mobile app. The project got a little bigger than planned, and here it is: your dedicated app for logging all of your peak bagging activity. Whether you’re walking for a mindful escape or a physical challenge, you’re very welcome here.

I hope you enjoy being part of our community. We’re always looking for feedback on what we’ve done so far and what we could do in the future - just reach out through our Instagram page. We can’t wait to hear what you think.
